A shell and tube exchanger with 2 shell passes and 4 tube passes is used to heat 10000 kg/h pressurized water in the tubes from 35 C to 120 C. The heating is to be done with 5000 kg/h water entering the exchanger at 300 C. If the overall heat transfer coefficient is 1500 W/m2.K Determine the required heat exchanger area using;

a)      LMTD Method

b)      NTU Method

(Cp of Water = 4.18 KJ/Kg.K)
